Hitchin Town
With a small river called the Hiz running through the town, Hitchin is a quaint medieval market town with pretty tudor and georgian buildings in and around the market place. Along with plenty of shops and places to eat, Hitchin is on a main railway link to Kings Cross and the North. You can also find a Museum and Art Gallery and weekly markets. It is also home to a festival held every year called Rythms of the World, which lasts for three weeks. If your into sports, Hitchin also offers Rugby, Football, Cricket and Hockey clubs and also a Swimming Pool/Club. The TV series Just William was filmed at the British School Museum. Approximately 22 minutes from Hitchin is Silsoe, home to Wrest Park and country estate, with magnificent secret gardens with statues and pavilions.
Wrest Park also holds lots of different events throughout the year. Seven miles away you have Luton Hoo, a luxury 5 star hotel with golf course and spa. Luton Hoo has also appeared in many films including The Secret Garden, Four Weddings and a funeral and War Horse. Around 48 minutes away is the home to Chesfield Downs, Golf and Country Club, plus a superb venue to hold your wedding. 40 minutes away from Hitchin, you have Whipsnade Zoo, if you fancy a day out.
